Emma is a Grant Writer on the Philanthropy Team, responsible for research, writing, editing, submission, and reporting of grant requests to private, corporate, and public foundations. Drawing on her background as Island Institute’s Impact and Event Specialist, she brings an enthusiasm for amplifying the organization’s reach and sharing its impact with the world.

Emma graduated from University of Vermont with a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies, and after earning her degree, she worked for the City of Portland’s Sustainability Office as a City Sustainability Fellow where she implemented programs and initiatives tied to the city’s climate action plan.

Emma was born, raised, and educated in Vermont, and later moved to Maine. She lives with her partner in Owls Head, and enjoys spending time outdoors—sailing, gardening, and going on walks with her dog Arlo.
