In her role as a Community Development Officer, Christa serves as the project lead of the Broadband team, helping to support Maine’s island and coastal communities in achieving equitable, high-speed internet connectivity. She also provides support for the Workforce Pathways and Remote Community Support teams, focusing on student and adult college and career readiness programs.

A graduate of Wheaten College in Illinois, Christa has a B.A. in Anthropology and a minor in music, and an M.A. in Intercultural Studies and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. Prior to joining the Island Institute, she worked as an educator in Chicago, Bangladesh, and Maine.

Christa’s roots in midcoast Maine stretch back over seven generations. An active member of the community of Bremen, she currently serves serves on her local school board and the Waldo Theatre board of directors. She enjoys playing music in a local orchestra and engaging in outdoor adventures, especially those involving woods and salt water.
