Jesse is dedicated to helping individuals and families create lasting impact in their communities through Island Institute’s programs and mission-driven work. In his role as a Philanthropy Advocate, he strengthens philanthropic support by building meaningful donor relationships and ensuring that each contribution is directed to the areas of greatest need while honoring the intentions and priorities of every donor.
A lifelong Mainer, Jesse hails from the community of Cherryfield in Western Washington County. He holds a B.A. in Psychology & Community Studies from the University of Maine at Machias and an M.S. in Adult & Higher Education from the University of Southern Maine. His commitment to community-centered work has guided a career spanning higher-education fundraising at Bates College, clinical advancement at Thomas Jefferson University and Hospital in Philadelphia, and five years as an academic counselor with the Bowdoin College Upward Bound program—of which he is also a proud alumnus.
When he’s not connecting with donors or championing community philanthropy, Jesse can be found hiking Schoodic Mountain in Sullivan, kayaking the waters of Penobscot Bay, or exploring a new eatery in Portland. He also serves on the Mitchell Institute Alumni Council (MIAC), continuing his commitment to supporting Maine students and emerging leaders.
