Christa is a Senior Community Development Officer who, as part of the Institute’s Center for the Marine Economy, works to strengthen opportunities for accessing marine-related workforce pathways in Maine’s island and coastal communities.

A graduate of Wheaton College in Illinois, Christa has a B.A. in Anthropology with a minor in Music, and an M.A. in Intercultural Studies and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. Prior to joining Island Institute, she worked as an educator in Chicago, Bangladesh, and Maine.

With roots in midcoast Maine stretching back over seven generations, Christa is an active member of the community of Bremen, serving on the school board since 2016. She plays flute in the Seacoast Community Orchestra and enjoys growing heirloom crops and adventuring in the woods and waters of Maine with her husband and two sons.
