CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER
Island Institute seeks a strategic, mission-driven Chief Financial Officer to lead and strengthen our financial operations in support of Maine’s coastal and island communities. As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, the CFO plays a critical role in shaping the organization’s financial future, ensuring stability, and advancing our long-term impact.
This position oversees all day-to-day financial functions—including budgeting, reporting, and compliance—while supporting senior leaders with timely insights to align resources with strategic priorities. The CFO ensures robust financial systems and a GAAP-compliant infrastructure, enabling program teams to focus on mission delivery. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the CFO supervises the finance team and serves as a trusted advisor to the president, board, and leadership.
