As the Content Marketing Specialist, Georgia works on all aspects of Island Institute’s external communications, from social media to newsletter content. A lifelong Mainer, she is committed to the organization’s values of supporting the state’s island and coastal communities.
Georgia holds a BFA from Emerson College, where she studied creative writing and gender and sexuality studies. Her passion for community organizing led her to the nonprofit field, working with organizations like Friends of the Cobbossee Watershed and Maine People’s Alliance. She was previously the Communications Coordinator at Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts, leading content production across multiple channels. Most recently, Georgia completed a fellowship with Out in the Open, creating an arts magazine to connect rural Mainers from marginalized communities through creative practice.
To keep her creative flame going, Georgia volunteers as a staff writer for Same Faces Collective, a literary and arts magazine. She also has several articles and works of fiction published. Outside of work, you can find Georgia exploring Maine’s coast, cozying up with a good book, or working on a novel over a cup tea.
