Pete provides leadership over operational strategy and oversees the implementation of systems and structures that support the organization’s strategic plan and long-term sustainability. As a lifelong Mainer, he embraces the Institute’s mission around sustainability of Maine’s coastal areas, and is proud to bring his professional experience to the benefit of such important work.

Pete brings years of experience in leadership to the Institute. As a CPA with Baker Newman Noyes, he served clients in the healthcare, financial services, governmental and nonprofit sectors. Following his public accounting career, Pete served as a financial executive with for-profit and nonprofit organizations, including service to organizations supporting at-risk children and families, as well as adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Additionally, he has provided Board leadership to mission-driven organizations serving youth and disadvantaged populations.

Pete holds degrees in Business Administration and Accounting from the University of Maine and University of Southern Maine, as well as a Masters degree in Policy, Planning and Management from the Muskie School and Cutler Institute at the University of Southern Maine.

Pete and his wife Sophie, a high school social worker, raised their two children in South Portland. Pete and Sophie now call Jefferson home.
