Conversations with Maine’s Island & Coastal Small Businesses
Episode 2: Pendleton Yacht Yard, Islesboro

To better understand how our local small businesses are doing during this time of change, we are making a series of pre-recorded Commercial Currents interviews with some of Maine’s island and coastal small businesses. These short conversations designed to check in with these businesses, understand their concerns, and hear what’s working well.

We launched the series last week with an interview with 44 North Coffee in Deer Isle-Stonington. If you missed the first episode, you can listen to it here.

This week, we bring you an interview with Gabe Pendleton of Pendleton Yacht Yard on Islesboro. Gabe takes us through his relentless navigation of the SBA relief loans and now the CARES Act. He employs 22 people—who he refers to as family—and he is trying to figure out the best path to protect their livelihoods.
