Rebecca Clark Uchenna
Community Development Officer

Rebecca combines her passion for marine conservation, science, and education into a unique role at the Island Institute. She is currently responsible for the coordination of the Education team, working closely with island and coastal schools and educational organizations under the “Enhancing Education and Leadership” strategic priority at Island Institute. She also works on the Aquaculture team helping fishermen and students diversify their incomes by incorporating shellfish and kelp aquaculture into their businesses.  

Rebecca joined the Island Institute in 2013 as the Education Programs Associate, where she oversaw the day-to-day management and running of several STEM educational programs. In 2014, she became Marine Programs Associate and helped give fishermen and coastal communities a stronger voice in the ocean planning process as well as educate fishermen and community members about shellfish and kelp aquaculture. Rebecca holds a M.S. in Environmental Studies, Conservation Biology from Antioch University New England and a B.S in Wildlife Ecology from the University of Maine.
