Peter works with and supports island and coastal fishermen through the Island Institute’s shellfish and seaweed aquaculture business-development and small-business Launchpad programs. By serving on project and other cross-organizational teams, he helps inform the project design, implementation, and evolution of the Institute’s strategic priorities, including strategies to support the lobster industry.
Before moving to Maine, Peter lived in Iowa with his family, where he worked as the director of operations for a large scale aquaculture project. Prior to that, he owned and operated a premiere fly fishing business in California.
With a bachelor’s degree in wildlife management, Peter’s career has also included research work with the USDA Forest Service in Alaska as well as wildlife organizations in California. Trained as a marine scientist, he is excited to work at the intersection of marine science and business development and learn about the state of Maine.
