Marine Economic Development Associate
Programs

James works closely with the marine resources and economic development teams to assist island and remote coastal fisherman with their businesses in any way he can.  This includes both helping existing businesses to create increased marketing and value-added products, as well as helping fishermen incorporate aquaculture into their existing fishing or start new businesses like ones focused on fisheries and tourism. James enjoys thinking creatively about the problems fishermen face and is interested in talking to you!

James is both a 2014 Bowdoin graduate, where he studied biology, and a fisherman, coming to Maine from Alaska where he has harvested salmon with his family for decades and recently cofounded a successful direct-marketing business.  He enjoys being out on the water as much as possible, be it hauling traps in Penobscot Bay or being tossed around in rapids on the Penobscot River.
