Hope Rowan

Hope Rowan joined the Island Institute in June 2006 as the Technology Education Specialist. Hope works on various GIS and technology projects at the Institute, including offering training and support in GIS and website design for the CREST program.

Prior to joining the Institute, Hope has worked as a planner and consultant with municipalities, land trusts, and other community organizations on a variety of projects that focused upon land use planning, conservation, sustainable communities, and sense of place. Her GIS work has included comprehensive-planning maps, development-suitability analysis, and 3D visualizations.

Hope holds a B.A. in Music from Colby College in Waterville, ME; and a Masters of Philosophy in Human Ecology, specializing in GIS and Community Planning, from the College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor, ME.  She lives on Mount Desert Island with her dog Kala.   Email Hope
