Maine Islands Coalition Meeting Agenda - August 14, 2009

The next Maine Islands Coalition meeting will take place in Rockland at the Island Institute office on Friday, August 14th, from 10 AM to 2 PM. The agenda is as follows:

10:00- 10:15: Introductions

10:15- 10:45: Legislative updates

10:45- 12:00: Panel Discussion focused on economic development and available resources.

• Eloise Viteilli: Women, Work and Community, will discuss opportunities and training resources available
• Linda Hogan: Hour Exchange Portland, will discuss their unique barter exchange model
• Emma Miran: Stonington Planning and Development Fellow, will discuss the economic development strategies and successes in Stonington, as well as micro-enterprise lending
• Shey Conover: Island Institute Community GIS Specialist, will discuss four season farming and agricultural initiatives, including partnerships with the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association.

12:00- 12:30: Lunch

12:30- 2:00: MIC updates, legislative strategies for 2009-10, island updates, setting agenda for next MIC meeting
