Fire Protection

Maine’s islands are particularly vulnerable to fire, and residents face many obstacles to the protection of their homes and property.  Surrounded by the ocean, island communities lack – either completely or partially – timely support from neighboring resources in the event of an emergency, so they must depend on their own, on-island fire-protection resources for both equipment and personnel.
